On Saturday, we had our latest Smokestacks and the Sunrise gathering. Even though the cute, bearded boy who usually does the announcements wasn't there, it was still awesome. Ben, Eli and Dave wrote a new song, that rocked. And I mean rocked. It was like Carlos Santana was in the house. Also, the room was packed. There was nary a spare chair at the tables (I've always wanted to say 'nary').
The message was on resurrection and hope, with a great audio message from Breakforth by some old guy (Brennan Manning) who turned out to be full of youthful wisdom and humour. Accompanying this were pictures done by Ida Mae. They were lovely, and fitting. They represented how our lives can be broken, messed up, and battered, but also beautiful. They showed that things don't have to perfect to be beautiful and loved, and neither do we. Jesus loves us completely already, and has given us everything, if we could only accept it and stop thinking that we have to be perfect first.

The talk we heard and the pictures we saw were an amazing way to portray the Easter message. It was the same message I have heard for many years in Sunday School. Howevery, it was portrayed in a way that helped expand my view of God's grace, and gave me a glipse of how much more I have yet to understand about God and his amazing love.
