Huntington's Fundraiser

Last night was our fundraiser for Huntington Disease. Due to full page articles in both the Free Press and the Citizen, it was a packed house. Around 170 people came out to donate and learn about Huntington's Disease. Aside from raising awareness about this disease, we ended up raising $3000 for the Huntington Society of Canada through ticket sales and a silent auction.

It was a very, very fun night of fellowship and excellent entertainment done by talented artists in our church community. Performers included Andrea Brown, Casey Primus, Cliff Raphael, Bill Watt, Dan Watt, Ben Cheung, Laura Zeimer, The Smokestacks and the Sunrise Band, BJ Smith and myself. Thanks to everyone who donated time, energy, food, items for the silent auction, talent and money. It's such a blessing to have so many people support this cause. Thank you!

Amazing and Inspiring

Saturday was the Smokestacks art night. It was amazing. AMAZING. I can't express how incredible it was. It was a very emotional and overwhelming night, as well as a night of tons of laughs and good times. It blows me away how talented each of us is, whether that talent be playing the guitar, singing, writing, or working the sound equipment. Speaking of sound, a big thanks goes to Adrian and Mel for doing a wonderful job on mixing everything... it must not have been easy. Thanks guys!

It was great how humble everyone involved was. I never got the feeling that people were showing off or looking for praise. It was all about how God gives each of us different gifts, and how each of those gifts is special, with none more important than the others. I feel lucky to have been a part of this. It was a night filled with many moments I will never forget. Especially the opening, where Step by Step by the New Kids on the Block was played to inspire all of us. "Step by step, ooo baby, gonna get to you guuuurrl". After a start like that, you know it's going to be a memorable night.

A very, very big thank you to everyone who performed, shared, contributed, came, set up, cleaned up, and encouraged!
