A Year In Review

We are pumped for our upcoming SATS event (poster shown above) called "A YEAR IN THE LIFE: looking back on the past season of SATS". As with all of our get-togethers, there will be great music, friendly discussion and tasty treats. This particular evening will feature various different voices from the SATS community commenting on how the topics we've engaged with have affected them personally, and as a group. As well, The SATS Band will perform songs they've written that relate to the various topics.

So come on out, it'll be great time together.

Cafe Voltaire

Last night was The SATS Band's first full gig at Cafe Voltaire. The band was tight and the harmonies were smooth and organic. It was a thing of beauty. Everyone was in top form. The acoustic cafe setting really complimented the songs and was a natural fit for the band. They played for almost 2 hours, with the evening gently fading into night behind them. They did all of their songs off the EP, as well as some rocking covers, like Feist's I Feel It All, John Mayer's Waiting on the World to Change, and the Beatles' Can't Buy Me Love. The crowd loved them and I can't wait for their next acoustic gig.

Café Voltaire and Spring Cleanup

A couple of things to note:

The SATS Band will be performing at Café Voltaire on Friday night @ 8pm; the set will feature songs from the new EP... the venue is in Books & Company... CHECK IT OUT!

Also, we have a message from Sarah Waters regarding the annual Spring City Hall Cleanup:

"HEY! I'm going to sign a group up at city hall on my lunch break on Friday, so if you want to have FUN and pick up garbage to keep our city glowing, let me know before then!
Team Spic and Span will be getting to work Sunday at 11, and if there's a neighbourhood you especially would like to see scoured, let me know that too.
Feel free to call me at 614.6926 or email sarahwaters_@hotmail.com or facebook."

Previously Hidden Talent

Well, the Smokestacks and the Sunrise CD Release Party/Art Show on Saturday was a huge success! There was inspiring, beautiful poetry, amazing art and of course great music! What a talented bunch of people. It was so great to see so much previously hidden talent. Who knew there are so many fantastic artists in the SATS community? Thank you to everyone who shared their gifts!

I asked my 9 year old what her favorite part of the evening was. She said, "the songs." I think a lot of folks would agree. The SATS band was great live (as always) and their CD (for the bargain price of only $7!) is very professionally done. It's going to be a new in-the-van fav'.

And as always there were tasty treats... Hooray for apple crisp and ice cream and chocolate cake!

It was great to see such support for the band and the SATS community! Thanks to all the "regulars" and to all the new faces. It was so great to have the chance to connect.

Can't wait to see what next month brings!

Peace, Joy, Love to all,

L.L. Penson
